BJP's victory over civic polls
Election officials announced that BJP won 53 wards out of 132 wards in the urban local body elections of Kashmir. The election was conducted in four phases in the starting of October month and the central government took a victory with four different district of south Kashmir.
This victory was brand new experience for the BJP as well as the state itself as BJP's victory is highly unprecedented. The four districts which came under the party are Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian.
Congress won 28 seats from the 94 wards which result were declared till date. Which mean, the party will control three municipal bodies.
In Shopian, the central government BJP did a splendid work by winning 12 wards unchallenged. And five wards had no nominations in the elections. The devsar municipal committee area which was represented by Mohammad Amin Bhat the congress leader gave the powers of all eight seats to BJP. At
Qazigund Municipal Committee, BJP won four wards and three other had no oppositions. Seven out of 13 seats came under BJP without any contest in Pahalgam municipal committee which had no candidates for six seats.
The victory matter was slightly different in Dooru municipal committee where Congress won 14 seats out of 17 and Bjp won only two seats which left one seat vacant.
Congress won six seats in Kokernag municipal committee and three seats in Yaripora were three other seats were left vacant. In Budgam municipal committee Congress won six seats and BJP won four seats. Independents won total 13 seats in the election.
The results of civic bodies like Anantag and Mattan is expected to be out on this Saturday.
