IMD mentioned that “The cyclone moved from west central Bay of Bengal towards west-north westwards in the last 6 hours with a speed of 8 km/h. 'Titli' is in the 530 km southeast of Gopalpur in the state and 480 km east-southeast of Kalingapatnam in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The director of meteorological centre of Bhubaneswar HR Biswas said, “It is very likely to intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm during the next 24 hours and move west-northwestwards for some more time, then northwestwards, and cross Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts between Gopalpur and Kalingapatnam around the morning of October 11.”
They also predicted for heavy rainfall in Kandhamal, Boudh, and Dhenkanal on Thursday. The IMD also said that the rainfall will come with a heavy flow of wind with a speed of 40-50 km/h and may go till 60 km/h. According to the IMD bulletin, “The wind speed will gradually increase to80-90 km/h and gusting 100 km/h from Wednesday evening along and off south Odisha coast and 55-65 KMPH gusting to 75 KMPH along and off North Odisha coast.” They also said, the sea condition will be worse in the next 24 hours in central and North Bay of Bengal. The fishermen are prohibited to visit the water bodies till Friday.
The government of Odisha had imposed high alert in the state and especially the places near to water bodies. The government has geared up to rescue any person in case of any dreadful incident. The district collectors are ordered to arrange places to sift the people who were living in low lying areas.
PK Mohapatra the deputy special relief commissioner said that 300 motorboats are arranged for emergency till October 11. And 879 cyclone shelters are prepared to give shelter to the needy.
