Close to September month, Uttarakhand was dismayed when a minor girl raped by her schoolmates. During investigating the case provided that the boys took to the terrific step after watching porn sites. Last month, Uttarakhand High Court issued an order to block 857 porn websites immediately.
An activist who works in favor of child protection has appreciated the lancinating action of the government.
While Uttarakhand High Court directed to block 857 websites. The Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) found that 30 websites who don't have the pornographic material and asked Department of Telecom to ban 827 websites in the list issued as a part of the order.
Meity received an order on October 8 to ban websites, as High Court order was issued on 27 September.
DoT directed to Internet Service Provider in the country to take action against a list of 827 websites that need to be blocked in India. Jio & other ISP have potential to ban porn sited in India as per DoT directions.
While blocking of websites in India is fairly usual, the ban is vestigial & not as sophisticated as other countries use. Another hand, with a little bit of effort, maybe a free VPN, changing in a DNS server, using a different browser like Opera allows users to access blocked website in India. Having said that, we must caution our viewers to not access any website that is not legal in India. That will be a crime.
