Journalist Abhijit Iyer Mitra nabbed in Odisha over Sun Temple remark !!

On Tuesday, Mr. Iyer Mitra- a journalist & Delhi based defense analyst in the midst of disputation over his remarks on Odisha's Konark Sun Temple was arrested in Bhubaneshwar by Odisha police in another case.

He'd come forth before a House Committee of State Assembly and apologized for making disparaging remarks against the State, the Konark Sun Temple & comments about legislators. He was arrested as soon as he stepped out of Assembly at an undisclosed location in Bhubaneshwar after hours of interrogation.

Mr. Iyer Mitra's lawyer said he was nabbed in a case that filed against him related to the Twitter conversation on rosogolla's origin. Last year Iyer Mitra made a number of tweets about rosogolla including "There is no such thing as an odia rosogolla".

Recently, Mr. Iyer Mitra was firstly nabbed in September but sanctioned bail after few hours. On Tuesday evening,  He was presented in court & will be in judicial custody for two weeks & He has been charged under Indian Penal Court section 294, 295A and 500 & Section 67 of Information Technology Act on the basis of FIR filed at Saheed Nagar police station Bhubaneshwar. On 20 September, FIR was lodged by Manoranjan Mohanty for hurting religious sentiment of Odisha's people. Iyer Mitra was taken to Capital Hospital for Medical check-up.

On 20 September, Mr. Iyer Mitra was earlier nabbed by Odisha police in Delhi but sanctioned bail till 5 October by the trial court which guided him to cooperate in the probe. On 5 October, Iyer Mitra Moved to Supermen Court for seeking an extension of his bail tenure but litigation was expelled.

Narasingha Mishra, Chairman of House Committee & also the Leader of Opposition in Odisha's Assembly stated "Mr. Iyer Mitra abide by allegations against him & sought an unconditional apology for his stupidity. The committee will decide whether to accept the apology or not after examining his affidavit."
